Assistant Chief Bob Ward began his career in law enforcement with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department in 1978. He came to the Forest City Police Department in October 1990 as a reserve police officer. In February 1991, Assistant Chief Ward was employed as a full time officer with Forest City Police Department where he has served as a Patrol Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, Detective Sergeant and Lieutenant as the Commander of the Investigations Division. Assistant Chief Ward was promoted to Assistant Chief in January of 2007 and took command of the department’s three divisions: Patrol, Investigations and Support Services.
Assistant Chief Ward is a member of the North Carolina Police Executives Association, North Carolina Internal Affairs Investigators Association, and North Carolina Homicide Investigators Association. Assistant Chief Ward has his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, received his Criminal Investigator Certificate from the North Carolina Justice Academy and has over 4,000 hours of in-service training.
He lives in Forest City with his wife Anna and has two children, Dana and Jared.
